FAQs
Buying A Dress
Go to our Find A Store page and type in your zip code or city to find the nearest Sherri Hill retailer. If you have a specific style in mind, we suggest calling the store ahead and placing the gown on hold.
Pricing can fluctuate due to shipping and taxes in each country. To find out the exact price of a Sherri Hill dress, go to the Find A Store page, locate your nearest retailer, and contact them. Have the style number in-hand and they should be able to provide the price. If you are in a country where we ship to prices will be displayed on each item, and all duties in taxes are displayed in the checkout process.
Fit & Sizing
Sherri Hill dresses are cut to formal wear sizing, which is more structured and closer to the body than everyday clothing. Many people wear a larger size in a formal gown than they do in jeans or streetwear, so choose your size from your measurements rather than from the size you normally buy. Fitted silhouettes leave the least room and depend most on exact measurements, while A-line and flowing styles are more forgiving through the waist and hip. Compare your bust, waist and hip to the Sherri Hill size chart, and expect that most gowns are finished with alterations for a precise fit.
Measure your bust, natural waist and fullest hip, then compare those numbers to the Sherri Hill size chart, which lists both inches and centimeters. If your measurements fall across two sizes, most people choose the larger size and have the gown taken in. An authorized retailer can also measure you in person and recommend a size for the specific style you are considering.
Sherri Hill sizes run from 000 to 26. Not every style is produced in every size, so check with an authorized retailer for the size range available in the style you want. Measurements for each size are on the size guide.
Every gown is constructed differently, so what can be altered depends on the individual dress. Seams, boning, lining and beading all affect what is possible. Take the gown to an experienced seamstress, who can look at that particular style and tell you which alterations can be made.
Shopping For A Sherri Hill Dress
Sherri Hill dresses are sold through authorized retailers rather than on sherrihill.com. Use the store finder to locate an authorized retailer and purchase from them directly.
Use the store finder on sherrihill.com. Enter your city or zip code and it will list authorized Sherri Hill retailers near you, which you can filter by prom, homecoming, evening, bridal and couture. If you have a specific style in mind, call the store first and ask them to hold it for you.
Collections are released a season ahead. Spring styles begin arriving in stores as early as late October or early November, with the full collection generally in stores by the end of January. Selection is best early in the season, so many shoppers start looking well before their event.
The product page for each style on sherrihill.com shows stores we have recently shipped that style to, which is the best place to start. We do not have visibility into what is on the floor at any individual store, so call the store to confirm before you go. For the same reason, we cannot say that a style is sold out everywhere in the country.
Only a select few retailers offer custom made-to-measure Sherri Hill dresses. They can generally be found under the couture section of the store finder. Contact the store directly to ask about custom options, timing and appointments.
Many authorized retailers keep a dress registry for the schools and events in their area, but registries are handled store by store rather than by Sherri Hill. If a registry matters to you, ask the store about their policy before you buy.
Care & Keeping
Care instructions differ from dress to dress, so always follow the care label sewn into your gown. Some styles are dry clean only and others call for spot cleaning. Check the label on your specific dress, and show it to your cleaner.
Store a beaded gown in its garment bag, and where possible hang it so it is not pressed against other garments. Beading and embellishment can catch on nearby clothing and pull or tear. Give the gown room in the closet rather than crowding it between other pieces.
Authenticity
Buy from an authorized retailer. Authorized stores are listed in the store finder on sherrihill.com, and a seller that is not listed there is not an authorized Sherri Hill retailer. Counterfeit gowns are common on unauthorized websites and social media marketplaces, and they typically differ from the real dress in fabric, construction, beading and fit.
Email info@sherrihill.com with as much detail as you can, including the website or seller, links, screenshots and any order information. Reports help us pursue counterfeit sellers and protect shoppers.
