The shapes
Fitted led, with A-line and the two-piece close behind and ball gown and mermaid in smaller numbers. V necks were the most common neckline, then high necks, with strapless, off-the-shoulder and halters behind, so the season sat higher at the shoulder than most.
Fabric and finish
Lace led by a distance, then sequin, satin, stretch fabrics, tulle and charmeuse. Beadwork carried the season almost single-handedly, with lace-up backs, cut-outs, slits, open backs and fringe on smaller numbers of styles.
Colour
Black led clearly, then ivory and red, with navy, light blue and emerald behind.
