Fall 2022 was the one-shoulder season. That neckline came through on roughly twice as many styles as strapless, which is unusual anywhere in the archive.

Silhouette and neckline

Fitted led by a wide margin, with the cape, ball gown and A-line in much smaller numbers. Behind one-shoulder came strapless, V necks and off-the-shoulder. Gowns outnumbered cocktail dresses, though the short styles were a real part of the season.

Fabric and finish

Lace led with sequin close behind, then jersey, velvet, scuba and tulle. Slits and beadwork did most of the work, lace-up backs were common, and feathers and rhinestones appeared across the more decorated styles.

Colour

Red and black led together, with ivory and light blue behind, then royal and emerald.
