Spring 2017 was a print season as much as a beaded one. The two came through in almost equal measure, which is unusual.

Silhouette and neckline

The two-piece led, with fitted, A-line, mermaid and ball gown close behind it, so no single shape dominated. V necks and high necks were the most common necklines, ahead of strapless and off-the-shoulder. Gowns outnumbered short styles by some way.

Fabric and finish

Lace led, then satin, tulle, chiffon, jersey and organza. Alongside the prints and the beadwork came florals and embroidery, with cut-outs and open backs on a smaller number.

Colour

Ivory led this season, which is rare, ahead of black and red, with blush a real presence and navy and light blue behind.
