The shapes
Fitted led by a wide margin, with A-line and the column behind it and ball gown and mermaid rare. V necks were the most common neckline, then sweetheart, strapless and one-shoulder.
Fabric and finish
Lace dominated the season, well ahead of sequin, with stretch fabrics, tulle, satin and jersey behind. The lace-up back and beadwork were the two details used most, with ruching, slits and corset bodices on a smaller number.
Colour
Red and black led, then light blue and navy, with gold and emerald giving the season its autumn edge.
